Welcome!  So Chic Beauty Bar & Boutique is a fashion and beauty business founded by Markia Dallas-Johnson. Markia is a wife, girl mom, Mimi, glam lover, and business woman. As she was trying to come up with the name for this business, she was reminded of an encounter she had dining one Sunday afternoon.  As she was leaving a restaurant, a lady stopped her and complimented her saying, "Wow, you look beautiful...I love your outfit! It's so chic!" That phrase "so chic" somehow stuck with her and she soon realized the lady's reaction was exactly the reaction she wanted her customers to get when they wore items from her boutique. So that was the moment she finally settled on the name- So Chic.

So Chic means "elegantly and stylishly fashionable." Our business goal is to provide classy women's clothing and accessories that mirror that definition and make women of all sizes, backgrounds and races look and feel beautiful.  Our owner, Markia, has worked in the beauty industry since the age of 14 in various beauty salons.  Although she is blessed by God with natural talent, she enhanced her skillset and craft by attending Gordon Phillips Hair School in Baltimore, Maryland.  She enjoyed working in the salon environment and often assisted in hair shows, fashion shows and beauty bar events.  Since a little girl, Markia has always had a passion for fashion, modeling, hair, makeup and styling. She was afforded the opportunity to work as a hair stylist at Vixxen Hair Salon and Victory Hair Salon.  She is grateful for those experiences which helped her to network with other beauty professionals, establish a clientele and build relationships with her clients. Markia is also appreciative of the education, experience and skillset she developed at Johns Hopkins Hospital - Healthcare Administration; Morgan State & Strayer University- Business Administration and Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore- Business Management.

In December 21, 2019, after an 18 year career in Healthcare, Markia launched So Chic Boutique at a Pop Up Shop. Her return to the beauty/fashion industry reignited her passion.  Over the course of 2020, God gave her a vision to expand her business into a Beauty Bar as well where she could also provide a "one stop shop" glam experience for her customers. Ironically, two years later on December 21, 2022, she received the keys to her first brick and mortar location at 2719 Pulaski Highway, 21040- now known as So Chic Beauty Bar and Boutique, which opened July, 2022.  Markia is the founder and Beauty Operator/Brow Technician & Beauty Professional, offering a variety of beauty services.  Markia gives all credit, glory and praise to God for this business, the vision, provision and all the gifts and talents He has blessed her with to share with the world. She is a witness that with God, all things are possible and firmly believes her life scripture (Romans 8:28) that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose!
